Oregon State has reportedly fired coach Trent Bray after a 0-7 start, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.
The Beavers are in the midst of their worst start in 34 years. They went 1-11 in 1991 with a Civil War victory over Oregon that year.
Bray was promoted after Jonathan Smith left for Michigan State after the 2023 season. He leaves with a 5-14 record, with a 13 losses over the past calendar year. OSU suffered a 39-14 loss to Wake Forest on Saturday. The Beavers haven't scored above 27 points in any game so far this year.
Bray will collect a buyout of over $4 million, according to the terms of his contract. Special teams coordinator Jamie Christian was fired following last week’s loss to Appalachian State,
"My expectations for our program are high, and right now, we are not meeting them," OSU athletic director Scott Barnes said in a statement last week.
The move comes as Oregon State tries to navigate a new era of college athletics as one of two schools staying in the Pac-12. Next year's expansion effort will give the conference enough members to compete, but are out of the Power Four conversation.
