A docuseries chronicling Bill Belichick’s first season as the University of North Carolina’s head football coach is still in the works, despite reports that the project had been canceled. According to People, the series is being shopped to new distributors after plans with Hulu fell through.

The news follows recent reports suggesting the proposed streaming series, which was once rumored to debut this fall on Hulu, had been shelved after Belichick's 2-3 start. However, a source close to the production told People that Hulu’s withdrawal doesn’t mean the end of the project.

“Hulu wanted Keeping Up with the Belichicks, but that was never for sale,” the source said. “Their vision ultimately wasn’t in alignment with the university’s.”

The contracts between UNC and EverWonder Studio, the production company behind the series, remain valid, the source added. “There will be a documentary-- Hulu is just no longer involved in production or distribution.”

Hulu never officially announced the project, which Belichick first mentioned in August while addressing his players ahead of his debut season. The 73-year-old coach and his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson were reportedly working with HBO's Hard Knocks last spring, but plans for a $200k payday went south after Hudson wanted too much creative control from NFL Films.

Belichick described the series as a behind-the-scenes look at UNC football’s rebuilding process under his leadership. “This is about the UNC football program,” he said in August. “It’ll show our commitment to winning and to the team.”

The legendary six-time Super Bowl–winning coach’s first season in Chapel Hill has been rocky, with no shortage of headlines as of late. Reports of internal tension and a potential buyout, both Belichick and the university released a joint statement earlier this week affirming their commitment to each other.

For now, the search continues for a new platform to bring Belichick’s first college football chapter to the streaming world.
