The Chicago Cubs have acquired Michael Soroka from the Washington Nationals on Wednesday.

Chicago, which picked up a win in the final game of the three-game series at Milwaukee, heads into Thursday just a single game behind the Brewers in the National League Central standings.

Soroka comes to Chicago with a 3-8 record on the season, and a 4.87 earned run average. He has made 16 starts on the season and struck out 87 batters, while walking 24.

This will be the fourth organization for Soroka, who is 20-26 in his career. His best season was 2019 with the Atlanta Braves. He was voted to the National League All-Star team that year and finished with a 13-4 record. He spent the 2024 season with the Chicago White Sox and was with the Nationals this season.

He was the 28th overall pick in the 2015 MLB draft by the Atlanta Braves.
