The 28-year-old is known as one of the top defensive third basemen in all of Major League Baseball. Hayes made his MLB debut with the Pirates in 2020. He won a Gold Glove award during the 2023 season.

In 2025, he is hitting .236, with just two home runs, and 36 runs batted in. His final game with the Pirates came on Tuesday, where he went 1-for-4 in a 3-1 win over the San Francisco Giants.

Cincinnati started Wednesday 56-52, but has dropped back-to-back games to the Dodgers. The Reds sit three games out of the final National League Wildcard spot. Cincinnati is in third place in the National League Central behind the Brewers and the Cubs.

Pittsburgh looks to be selling pieces again at the deadline. The Pirates started Wednesday at 46-62, with the fourth-best record in the National League.

Heading to Pittsburgh are Sammy Stafura and Taylor Rodgers.
