Bills' Keon Coleman Scouts Week 1 performance with 2 surprising words image

Buffalo Bills receiver Keon Coleman entered Year 2 knowing he needed to show far more than he did in his rookie season, and his offseason work reflected his desire to be the player the franchise wanted.

And after just one week, it appears that Coleman's efforts have been validated as he played a starring role in the come-from-behind win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Keon posted 112 yards and a touchdown from his eight receptions to be the leading weapon for Josh Allen in the passing game...just as the Bills expect him to be.

But he's not getting ahead of himself.

“It's just one game, but it is a great start, that's expected,” Coleman said. “It's expected for me to go out there and make the plays that I make. Wins [are] expected, too. I guess it's pretty validating in a sense. But when you put in the work, you have a different expectation for yourself, and when the guys around you see the work you put in and they know what you're capable of, their expectations change.

"When you meet them, it's not a big cahoots part, let's keep it going.”

Can Coleman become Allen's go-to guy?

In short, yes, he can, and given his draft status, Coleman has to become "that" guy for the Buffalo offense.

With Khalil Shakir more of a slot receiver and Joshua Palmer the other downfield threat, Coleman is younger than both, and his ceiling is far higher. So, becoming the go-to guy who has a significant, physical presence downfield is going to open up a lot of things for Joe Brady's offense.

But as Keon stated, it is one game, and the thing that has alluded him so far in his NFL career is consistency. He finds that he'll find himself as Allen's No. 1 weapon.
