Jose Mourinho's start to his Benfica tenure got off fantastically, and it could get even better with a potential sensational transfer.
Benfica beat AVS 3-0 last Saturday in the Primeira Liga to get back to winning ways.
One of the reasons why Mourinho would have been appointed is his ability to sign world-class players.
He has managed some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Chelsea, so his contacts book will have a lot of names in it.
According to Ekrem Konur, "Mourinho wants to reunite with Karim Benzema at Benfica as the striker enters the final year of his Al-Ittihad deal.
"The move would require Benzema to accept a major pay cut. Al-Ittihad may consider offers around €5–7M. Benfica aren’t alone—clubs from France and MLS are also monitoring the situation."

What would Karim Benzema bring to Benfica?
The Ballon d'Or ceremony is tonight, and it was only three years ago that Benzema won the award.
Benzema had a great record under Mourinho at Real Madrid, where he scored 78 goals, with 43 assists in 150 games.
The former France international is now 37 years old and has made just one Saudi Pro League appearance so far this season.
In that game for Al-Ittihad against Al-Okhdood, Benzema scored a hat-trick.
Benfica have a good squad, which is captained by former Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi. They also have Antonio Silva, whom Konur has also revealed that Chelsea is monitoring. However, they do lack star names.
Benzema will still be able to compete in the Primeira Liga despite his age. He would also attract more interest to the division, and especially Benfica.
