Liverpool shattered records on deadline day when they secured Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in a deal worth approximately £130m [$176m], breaking British Transfer record.
The 25 year old striker signed a six year contract worth nearly £300,000 [$403,000] a week after completing his medical on Merseyside on September 1.
The signing closed the summer’s longest transfer saga, which began when Liverpool’s £110m [$147m] bid in early August was rejected.
Newcastle initially insisted Isak was not for sale, but their £70m [$94m] purchase of Nick Woltemade and pursuit of Yoane Wissa softened their stance.
According to the Guardian, The clubs ultimately agreed on a fixed £125m [$167m] fee with cancelled loyalty bonuses lifting the final value to £130m for Newcastle.
Toni Kroos delivers sharp criticism of the fee
Former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos dismissed the figure on the podcast he co hosts with his brother Felix.

“I trust our listeners, but I’d say that roughly half of them have never even heard of Isak. Judge for yourselves. Seriously,” he said (via Mundo Deportivo)
Kroos doubled down by adding: “Yes. It’s a lot of money, without a doubt.” when his brother told about his earlier stint with Borussia Dortmund.
Liverpool’s summer spending surpassed £440m [$591m], including £100m [$134m] plus £16m [$21m] in add ons for Florian Wirtz in June.
