Liverpool ended the summer transfer window as the Premier League's highest spenders with £442m paid out on new stars in Arne Slot's squad.

Slot's plan to bolster from a position of strength as defending champions meant huge investment across multiple positions at Anfield.

Several high-profile sales balanced the books to an extent, with a final summer net spend of £235m, but Slot did break the Premier League transfer record twice.

A £100m - plus £16m in add-ons - deal for Florian Wirtz triggered a huge summer of change before a £125m deadline day swoop for Alexander Isak.

However, the final hours of the window also saw Slot miss out on Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, as the Eagles rejected their late offer.

Slot is expected to revive his interest in Guehi in 2026, but the club will wait until the end of the campaign, to offer a free transfer deal to the 25-year-old.

Palace could offer clubs the chance to sign their skipper in January, with a host of major European sides looking at him, but the former Chelsea defender is not the only Palace player on Slot's radar.

As per reports from Teamtalk.com, Liverpool have been told Palace could slash their asking price for highly-rated midfielder Adam Wharton.

With the club looking to bring funds, an updated fee of £60m has been put forward, after the 21-year-old was previously valued at £100m at Selhurst Park.

Wharton's current contract in South London runs until 2029, so Palace are under no major pressure to sell him, and wider transfer interest could mean a bidding war with the price creping back up again next summer.

Liverpool will hope Palace are open to selling two players to them in 2026 as Wharton aims to play UEFA Champions League football to boost his career.
