The summer transfer window deadline day was one of the most chaotic ones in the recent years with plenty of deals getting over the line with just minutes left on the clock.
However, one of the biggest misses of deadline day was Liverpool failing to land Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi after his transfer was blocked by manager Oliver Glasner who didn't want to lose to the defender without securing a proper replacement ahead of a crucial 2025/26 campaign.
Guehi was Liverpool's prime target this summer in defense especially with the growing concerns around Ibrahima Konate's future at the club with Real Madrid's growing interest.
Despite the deadline day debacle, the 25-year-old has continued to prove his prowess for England as they registered victories against Andorra and Serbia in the World Cup qualifiers.
Guehi was exceptional in both games as he led the backline for manager Thomas Tuchel, who paired him with Dan Burn and Ezri Konsa in the two respective games.
Interestingly, Guehi netted his first international goal for the Three Lions against Serbia in a famous 5-0 win as they inch close to qualification for next year's event.

His performances in both the games gave enough proof that Guehi has decided to put the disappointment of the failed transfer behind him and is looking forward to the upcoming season.
What did Marc Guehi say about his failed Liverpool transfer?
Guehi played a big role in helping Palace win the FA Cup last season, which handed them a ticket to play in Europe for the first time in their club's history.
The England international also stood tall for Glasner's men in their FA Community Shield triumph over Liverpool to kick-start the new season.

Therefore, Glasner was not ready to lose his primary defender especially after they had already lost their talisman in Eberechi Eze, who moved to Arsenal.
He reportedly threatened Palace with resignation if Guehi was sold to Liverpool and that forced the Eagles to block the move on deadline day.
When asked about the last eight days following his failed Liverpool switch, Guehi told ITV, "It's been great! It's always easy coming here, such a good group of players, good group of staff. We are all working towards one goal.
"I'm just over the moon [to score his first goal] it's a fantastic feeling. You work really hard growing up, so to score a goal for your country is the best feeling."
Tuchel also praised Guehi's attitude and quality that he brings to the pitch, as he stated, "It's the example of how the boys were at this camp.
"They put their personal interests to one side and he was the best team-mate possible and had a fantastic performance. He was very strong for Crystal Palace and demonstrated that today on the pitch."
