Chelsea are on the lookout for a new striker on transfer deadline day as they look to replace Liam Delap, who picked up an injury over the weekend in the game against Fulham.

The 22-year-old pulled his hamstring during the game and is set to miss up to two months of action for the club.

Following his injury, the Blues have entered the transfer market to find an alternative for him, but have been dealt a blow in their pursuit as one of their top targets has refused to join the club on deadline day.

Since the injury to Delap, Chelsea have been linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon’s Conrad Harder.

It has been claimed that Chelsea have made enquiries about signing Harder, but they are set for failure in their pursuit of the Dane.

In this situation, Chelsea will be forced to look for alternatives or convince Nicolas Jackson to stay, both of which seem equally challenging on the final day of the transfer window.

Conrad Harder says no to joining Chelsea on deadline day

According to Record, the player “refuses to go to Chelsea”, which is a blow for those at the club who were pushing for his arrival.

Instead, the player is on the verge of joining RB Leipzig in Germany, after turning down a move to West London.

In such a scenario, Chelsea have to consider alternatives to Harder. If reports are to be believed, Enzo Maresca’s team has considered signing Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain.

Though Jackson might end up staying at Stamford Bridge, Newcastle United might make a move for him once Alexander Isak completes his move to Liverpool.
