Arsenal kickoff their UEFA Champions League campaign against La Liga giants Athletic Club on September 16.

Mikel Arteta's side have endured a mixed start to their Premier League season with two wins followed by a 1-0 defeat at defending champions Liverpool last weekend.

The Gunners have invested heavily in squad reinforcements over the summer as Arteta aims to plot a title challenge in 2026.

However, alongside the superstar new faces arriving at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta has also uncovered a gem in 15-year-old Max Dowman.

On the back of Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri's rise from Hale End into the Arsenal first-team, club insiders are confident Dowman will be a star, and Arteta will keep him in his plans.

His 25-minute cameo off the bench in the 5-0 win over Leeds United last month put him No.2 on the Premier League youngest-ever appearance list.

Aged 15 years, 235 days old, Dowman is just behind Nwaneri, who made his Arsenal bow 54 days younger back in September 2022.

The youngest Premier League goal scorer record is still within his sights - currently held by James Milner - at 16 years and 270 days old.

Liverpool's Rio Ngumoha recently breaking onto No.4 on the list and Dowman has the rest of the campaign to break Milner's record.

In the Champions League, he will make history by playing a single minute this season, with no player featuring in the competition at 15, with Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal among six players to play in it at 16.

Youssoufa Moukoko - formerly of Borussia Dortmund - is the current holder, at 16 years 18 days, but Dowman will only need to play in one of Arsenal's league phase games before the end of 2025 to beat that.

Ansu Fati still holds the youngest UCL scorer record -  at 17 years 40 days - with a 28-day gap ahead of Lamine Yamal.
