Olympic champion Imane Khelif has been barred from competing in the World Boxing Championship, beginning in Liverpool on September 4.
The Algerian has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but it will not be heard in time for the event.
Khelif launched the appeal on Monday September 1 against World Boxing, after they insisted she take an SRY genetic test, which can detect Y or male chromosomes in one's system.
The gold medalist's gender has come into harsh criticism, with claims she is not a woman.
World Boxing has asked for the gene test in order to determine whether Khelif qualifies to participate in female events.
According to Sky Sports News, the hearing may take weeks as both parties have to agree to meet on the appeal.
No hearing over the next few weeks between Khelif or the Algerian Boxing Federation have been scheduled.
