The road to the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is getting close to the finish line and two more teams have now booked their tickets.
Oman and Nepal became the 18th and 19th sides to qualify for next year’s event, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 6 to March 7.
Their qualification came after a strong showing in the T20 World Cup Asia-EAP Regional Final, currently being held in Muscat.

Both teams secured their spot even before their Super Six meeting, thanks to UAE’s dominant win over Samoa earlier in the day. With that result, Oman and Nepal’s top-two standing was confirmed.
How did Oman and Nepal seal their qualification for the T20 World Cup 2026?
Oman and Nepal’s qualification was confirmed after UAE defeated Samoa by 77 runs, which made it impossible for any other team to overtake the top two spots in the Super Six standings.
Oman and Nepal had already been leading the points table and were just waiting for other results to go their way.
Oman will be playing for the third time in a T20 World Cup after earlier appearances in 2016 and 2024. They came into the qualifiers as one of the stronger teams and lived up to expectations.
Nepal will also make their third appearance. They have previously featured in 2014 and 2024 edition. Both nations were part of the first round in the last World Cup held in the USA and Caribbean.

Which teams are still in contention for the final T20 World Cup 2026 spot?
With 19 teams now confirmed, only one place remains open for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The last qualification spot from the Asia-EAP region is now between UAE and Japan.
UAE, who are currently sitting third on the table with four points, will face Japan in a crucial encounter on October 16.
If Japan manages to win their remaining matches, they could overtake UAE and secure the final berth.
