The new UEFA Champions League season will get underway within a week and there's already a lot of hype around the competition after the draws were out.
While Paris Saint German will look to defend their European crown, teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and others will look to assert their authority this season.
Ahead of the new season, there were several statistics and records surfacing on X as netizens were exploring fascinating metrics in the competition.
Over the years, several players have had exceptional impact in the Champions League guiding their teams to the European crown.
Recently, a user had a query and asked Squawka on X, about the player who had created the highest number of big chances in the Champions League over the last five seasons.
The answer was rather surprising as Squawka published a graphic which was led by Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich.

This proves Kimmich's consistency in pulling the strings for Bayern Munich over the last five seasons. Behind the 30-year-old, players like Kylian Mbappe (23), Angel Di Maria (21), Raphinha and Kevin de Bruyne (both 19) form the top five.
Joshua Kimmich misses out on Ballon d'Or 2025 nominations
Despite showing great consistency for Bayern Munich across the last five seasons of the Champions League, which also includes the last season, Kimmich surprisingly has missed out on Ballon d'Or nomination for this year.

The midfielder was the primary creative outlet for Vincent Kompany's men last season across all competition and also showed great leadership and ball-winning capabilities in midfield.
However, he still couldn't find his name in the top 30 nominations for Ballon d'Or this year. The primary reason could be Bayern Munich's quarterfinal exit from the Champions League.
Despite the snub and lack of recognition, Kimmich continues to hold key for club and country. He is easily one of the best footballing brains out there.
The 30-year-old will hope to help maintain such levels heading into another new season of Champions League with the hope of guiding the Bavarians to the title.
