The news for Jacory Croskey-Merritt is good, very good.
The Washington Commanders released their inactive list about 90 minutes before kickoff of their season opener against the New York Giants.
Not only was JCM missing from the list. Another running back, Chris Rodriguez Jr., was on it as a healthy scratch.

That's likely the final information needed to affirm Croskey-Merritt should see at least some action in his NFL debut behind veteran Austin Ekeler.
How much of a workload will he get? No one really knows.
But it was Croskey-Merritt's preseason emergence as a seventh-round rookie that helped give the Commanders the confidence to trade Brian Robinson Jr. to the 49ers.
It was JCM, with Ekeler, who sat out the preseason finale while Rodriguez and Jeremy McNichols played.

Croskey-Merritt is explosive and has a fascinating story.
He goes by Bill, and he also only played one game in his final college season because of a wild NCAA eligibility issue dating back to a different player at Alabama State during Croskey-Merritt's redshirt season.
Now, he's set for his NFL debut, and it might be a special one.
