Daniel Jones is a starting quarterback in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season.
Not everyone saw that coming, but it's what the Indianapolis Colts felt they needed, and so Jones will take the field with his new team Sunday afternoon to take on the Miami Dolphins.
When Jones trots onto the field, it likely won't be long until the announcers refer to him by his classic nickname, Danny Dimes.
But there's a new nickname we should be considering, too.

Daniel Jones' new nickname
This is geographical:
Indiana Jones.
It's perfect, right?
Danny Dimes is a fun nickname, to be sure. It might roll off the tongue a little easier because of the smoothness of all sports names that end in 'y.'
But to take the fact that the Indianapolis Colts are in Indiana, and have it mesh so perfectly with the QB's last name, is just quite classic.
Jones has begun to have this moniker catch on just a bit, but it would likely take some usage in a broadcast call to really go viral and be a big one.
It's never a bad idea to be on the forefront of history, at least when it's for good reason. And calling Daniel Jones 'Indiana' isn't a bad idea at all.
