Is Jauan Jennings playing today? Why 49ers WR is having quiet first half vs. Bucs image

With the San Francisco 49ers dealing with several injuries to their pass-catchers for the Week 6 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it was assumed that Jauan Jennings would have a big game.

The Niners are currently missing tight end George Kittle and wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Brandon Aiyuk, leaving Jennings as the No. 1 target in San Fran.

However, we haven't heard anything out of Jennings so far in Week 6. Here's a closer look at what's going on.

Is Jauan Jennings playing today?

UPDATE: With just one minute left in the third quarter, Jennings has his first target and catch!

Jennings' first reception of Week 6 went for seven yards and moved the chains.

END OF UPDATE

UPDATE: We're midway through the third quarter and Jennings had more penalties (two) on the last drive than he has targets and catches (zero and zero).

Just a brutal game for the veteran wideout.

END OF UPDATE

While he was dealing with ankle and rib injuries during the week, Jennings is indeed active and in the lineup. He has gotten plenty of snaps but still no targets through two quarters of play.

It's possible the Bucs are focusing extra attention on Jennings and are forcing the Niners' other receivers to beat them.

Meanwhile, quarterback Mac Jones has connected with six different players, including Kendrick Bourne, who leads the team in receiving.

Hopefully the second half will yield better results for Jennings.
