UPDATE: Terrible news, as Warner had to be carted off the field and based on the replay, he has a significant ankle injury and needed an air cast.

Just an awful blow for the Niners' defense, which is already without Nick Bosa, who suffered a torn ACL a few weeks back.

It goes without saying that general manager John Lynch is going to have to be aggressive ahead of the trade deadline if he wants to bolster the defense.

Filling the shoes of Bosa and Warner will be impossible, but Lynch has to do the best he can to help his injury-plagued unit out during a season in which the Niners look like contenders through a quarter of the season.

END OF UPDATE

Warner stayed down on the field after suffering the injury and was being tended to by trainers.

We'll update this page once more information is known.
