The San Francisco 49ers have released a veteran wide receiver.

According to the NFL's transactions wire, the Niners released wide receiver Robbie Chosen, formerly known as Robbie Anderson and Robby Anderson, off the practice squad.

Along with that move, the 49ers officially cut ties with kicker Jake Moody, signed wide receiver Kendrick Bourne and placed George Kittle on injured reserve. All three of those moves were previously reported but are now official.

A former 1,000-yard wide receiver, Chosen failed to make the team's roster out of training camp and landed on the practice squad instead. The 32-year-old did not play in Week 1.

The signing of Bourne comes amid the 49ers dealing with injuries to their pass-catchers.

Along with Kittle, wide receiver Jauan Jennings is also banged up, although his shoulder injury isn't believed to be serious.

Quarterback Brock Purdy is dealing with shoulder and toe injuries, also.

Bourne spent four seasons with the Niners from 2017 through 2020, reeling in 137 catches for 1,769 yards and 11 touchdowns in that span.

He spent the last four seasons with the New England Patriots, where he caught 155 balls for 1,945 yards and 11 scores. In 2024, he finished with 28 receptions for 305 yards and one touchdown.

Bourne's best season came in 2021, when he tallied career-highs in receptions (55), receiving yards (800) and touchdowns (five).

The veteran wideout could have a role immediately given the Niners' injury woes.
