Here's an interesting nugget: "There's already chatter" that the Pittsburgh Steelers could trade for superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill, one NFL insider says.
The report comes from Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, who said this:
"There’s already chatter, in the aftermath of Sunday’s win over the Jets, that the all-in Steelers could go even more all-in by making a move for Hill," Florio reported. "Yes, Pittsburgh already has receiver DK Metcalf, who’s making $30 million per year on a five-year deal. But the Steelers don’t have a clear cut No. 2. Hill would be 1b (if not, at times, 1a) to Metcalf."
As Florio points out, the Steelers have a shaky situation at WR2.
Calvin Austin answered the bell in Week 1, but it remains to be seen if he can keep that up all season long. Austin is preferably a WR3 in most offenses.
Roman Wilson was thought to be another WR2 option, but he's unproven and only saw 10 snaps and didn't see a single target in the season-opener.
Adding Hill would give Aaron Rodgers just what he needs at wide receiver, as a duo of the Miami Dolphins wide receiver and Metcalf would be one of the best one-two punches in the NFL.
Hill had a down season in 2024, but he was also playing through a wrist injury and didn't have quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for a handful of games due to a concussion.
Trade speculation surrounding Hill re-ignited in Week 1 after he showed clear frustration on the bench while the Dolphins were getting blown out versus the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Hill turned heads at the end of last season when he said he wanted out of Miami, but he eventually walked that comment back.
Regardless, it seems inevitable that Hill is going to get traded. The Steelers should definitely have interest, especially after how well Rodgers played in Week 1.
