Pat Freiermuth has been the Pittsburgh Steelers' No. 1 tight end for years now, but things have changed drastically in 2025.

Freiermuth is off to a terrible start to the season, with the Steelers tight end tallying just eight catches for 76 scoreless yards entering Week 7.

Not only has Freiermuth barely been involved in the passing game, his snaps have been significantly cut. After playing 28 or more snaps over the first three games, Freiermuth has been on the field for just 36 the last two games.

Meanwhile, fellow tight end Jonnu Smith has seen consistent playing time and Darnell Washington has slowly seen more and more snaps each week.

Early on in the Week 7 game against the  Cincinnati Bengals, Freiermuth is off to a quiet start. Here's a closer look.

Is Pat Freiermuth playing tonight?

UPDATE: MUUUUUTH!

Freiermuth is finally on the board with his first catch of the night in the third quarter and it went for a touchdown.

END OF UPDATE

UPDATE: Three drives and still no official targets for Freiermuth.

It's shaping up to be another quiet game for the veteran tight end.

END OF UPDATE

Yes, Freiermuth is active and playing. In fact, he pulled in a target on the first drive of the game, but it was negated because of a penalty.

On the second drive, the Steelers only ran four plays before punting the ball away, so there wasn't much of an opportunity for anyone.

We'd like to say Freiermuth will get going soon, but that is far from guaranteed after what we've seen through the first five weeks.
