When the Pittsburgh Steelers signed Kenneth Gainwell in free agency, the plan was for him to complement and spell starter Jaylen Warren.
So far, that move has paid off. Not only has Gainwell proven to be a solid No. 2 back, he also put up huge numbers in place of an injured Warren in Week 4, with Gainwell tallying 19 carries for 99 yards and two scores and six receptions for 35 yards.
However, Gainwell is off to a slow start in the Week 7 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Here's more information on that.
Is Kenneth Gainwell playing tonight?
UPDATE: Gainwell is on the board with his first touch of the game on the Steelers' third drive.
He took his first carry for a strong gain of 10 yards.
END OF UPDATE
Yes, Gainwell is active, but the Steelers have been rolling with Warren heavy in the first two drives, and Warren is running the ball effectively, which won't help the veteran see the field.
We'll see if he can get going as the game progresses.
