Justin Fields doesn't normally wear gloves.

But during warmups on Sunday, he had a pair of fresh white gloves on his hands as he went through warmups in the rain before the New York Jets took on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season.

Nobody is going to start calling him "Justin Two Gloves," because it doesn't have the same ring as "Teddy Two Gloves" does for Teddy Bridgewater.

But it's notable anyways.

Why is Justin Fields wearing gloves for Jets vs. Steelers?

Justin Fields is wearing gloves to get a better grip on the football.

The wet conditions for Jets-Steelers called on Fields to make a change.

According to SNY's Connor Hughes, "Justin Fields struggled mightily in the rain-soaked #Jets practice during camp. Fumbled a couple times, accuracy major concern."

The Jets can't afford mistakes like those on Sunday to open the regular season. Better to be safe than sorry.

If the conditions stay bad, Fields may not pass a ton.

The Jets have Fields' running ability paired with a three-headed backfield rotation of Breece Hall, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis.

Expect them to keep things on the ground as much as possible, as long as they can hold onto the ball and prevent that from going on the ground, too.
