The Tennessee Titans have reportedly reached an agreement on a trade with the New York Jets.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Titans are trading cornerback Jarvis Brownlee to the Jets. The deal will also see the two sides swap late-round picks in 2026, with the Titans getting a sixth and the Jets getting a seventh, according to John Glennon of the Nashville Post.
Brownlee was a 2024 fifth-round pick of the Titans and started in 14 of the 17 games he played last season. The Florida State product played well, also, as he gave up a completion rate of 59.5% and a passer rating of 86.7 when targeted.
The 24-year-old also recorded one interception, nine passes defensed and one fumble recovery.
However, Brownlee has struggled early on this season, with the second-year pro giving up an 80% completion rate and a 125.4 passer rating.
Even still, it is surprising to see the Titans give up on him this early considering the promise he showed last season. One has to wonder if there were some issues behind the scenes between Brownlee and the team.
For the cheap price the Jets paid, it makes total sense to take a flyer on Brownlee, who could really thrive under Jets head coach Aaron Glenn.
New York has deployed free-agent signing Brandon Stephens across from Sauce Gardner this season, but the veteran has been bad, as evidenced by his 81.3% completion rate and 144.3 passer rating.
As a result, Brownlee could challenge for a starting job right away.
