As if the New York Jets didn't have enough problems amid their disastrous 0-6 start, the team is now dealing with an injury to wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Wilson suffered a knee injury during the Week 6 loss to the Denver Broncos that had him in and out of the game at some points.
Wilson was able to finish out the contest, but he was clearly in pain and not 100%. That was an early sign that the former first-round pick might miss time due to his injury.
While head coach Aaron Glenn didn't offer an exact update on Monday, a new report shed some light on how much time Wilson is going to miss.
Garrett Wilson injury update
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the results of Wilson's Monday MRI revealed a hyperextended knee, which Schefter's source said will force the Ohio State product to miss "a couple of weeks."
"An MRI today revealed that Jets WR Garrett Wilson hyperextends his knee and he now is expected to miss, as one source said, 'a couple of weeks,'" Schefter wrote.
With Wilson sidelined, the Jets are perilously thin at wide receiver.
Allen Lazard didn't play in Week 6 because of a personal issue and it remains unclear if he'll be available next week. Lazard has just six catches for 24 yards, anyway, but the Jets could sure use him with Wilson out.
Whether Lazard plays or not, Josh Reynolds will serve as the Jets' clear-cut top wideout after posting the second-most receiving yards on the team in the four games he has played in.
He'll be flanked by rookie Arian Smith and veteran Tyler Johnson, both of whom have combined for 13 catches for 87 yards this season.
New York has four receivers on its practice squad, also, in Isaiah Williams, Brandon Smith, Quentin Skinner and Jamaal Pritchett.
