The Dallas Cowboys have not had star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in the lineup for three straight games now, but his absence could be ending in Week 7.
Lamb suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears and was reportedly expected to miss three to four games.
Seeing as how he has now missed three after he was absent yet again in Week 6, there stands a chance he comes back this week for the contest against the Washington Commanders.
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones was a guest on 105.3 The Fan on Monday and provided a hopeful update on Lamb, as well as fellow wide receiver KaVontae Turnpin and right guard Tyler Booker.
CeeDee Lamb injury update
According to Jones, Lamb, Turpin (foot) and Booker (ankle/foot) all "have a chance" to play in Week 7.
"Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on 105.3 The Fan said WR CeeDee Lamb (ankle), WR KaVontae Turpin (foot) and RG Tyler Booker (ankle/foot) all “have a chance” to play Sunday against Washington," The Athletic's Jon Machota relayed.
The Cowboys will drop their first injury report of the week on Wednesday, so we'll know more about Lamb's chances of playing then.
Lamb was clearly making progress last week after he was spotted working on a side field with resistance bands for the first time since his injury. That was the first sign Lamb had a chance to return in Week 7.
In Lamb's absence, No. 2 wide receiver George Pickens has seamlessly transitioned into the No. 1 role for quarterback Dak Prescott.
Pickens has been playing some of the best football of his career, with the former second-round pick tallying 19 catches for 359 yards and four touchdowns in the previous three contests.
Pickens has now scored at least one touchdown in each of the last five games and his 168 receiving yards in Week 6 were the most he has had in a game this season.
If the Cowboys can keep getting that version of Pickens upon Lamb's return, Dallas will be very tough to stop through the air.
Now, if only the defense can get its act together...
