When the New York Giants benched Eli Manning for Daniel Jones in 2019, it was the end of an era.
Manning, of course, had led the Giants to two Super Bowls, winning Super Bowl MVP in both of those triumphs.
Since that benching, the quarterback situation has been anything but settled.
Rookie QB Jaxson Dart will be the 10th new quarterback to start for the Giants since Manning's benching. Dart is slated for his first career start on Sunday at home against the Los Angeles Chargers.
In case you're wondering, the nine names between Manning and Dart, via Bobby Skinner:
- Daniel Jones
- Colt McCoy
- Mike Glennon
- Jake Fromm
- Davis Webb
- Tyrod Taylor
- Tommy DeVito
- Drew Lock
- Russell Wilson
Manning also made two more starts after his own initial benching.

Does that list get Giants fans fired up or what?
It's the way it often goes in the NFL. It can be hard to replace a franchise quarterback.
Rarely is at as simple as handing off from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers. Much more often, it looks like this.
The Giants are hoping Dart can change that, of course. They traded back into the first round to choose him No. 25 overall out of Ole Miss because they believe in his immense potential.
No one in New York Giants colors would complain if Dart, like his fellow Ole Miss QB Eli Manning, holds down the quarterback spot for a long time.
