Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson is the starter for the New York Giants. However, the franchise has Jaxson Dart waiting in the wings after drafting him 25th overall in the first round of this year's NFL Draft.
While the Giants want to bring Dart along at a steady pace to not overwhelm him, CBS Sports NFL analyst Matt Ryan believes that New York need to find out what they have with their rookie signal-caller sooner rather than later.

"I think he definitely plays," Ryan said on CBS Sports. "I think if you're Brian Daboll and you're Joe Schoen, the path to success moving forward is Jaxson Dart. The future of this organization is Jaxson Dart. I think the sooner you find out what you have, the sooner you let him grow, the better off you're going to be."
The Dart era could officially kick off on Sunday—at least partially. NFL.com reports, citing sources, that the Giants have designed a set of plays specifically for their first-round rookie quarterback in the game plan for the regular-season opener against the Washington Commanders.
Dart's three strong preseason performances convinced the team he's ready for regular-season action.

Even though there are plays for the rookie, there's no certainty that head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will use the plays. Dart had an impressive preseason, completing 32 of 47 passes for 372 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Nonetheless, Dart is willing to be patient and wait for his time. He recently stated that Wilson has earned the starting job for the Giants to start the 2025 season after his performance in training camp and the preseason.
"Russ has completely earned (the starting) role, and he's played amazing, played elite," Dart said. "So, for me, I just want to be the best teammate, and I just want this team to win. Whatever my role is for that to happen, I'm going to do that to the best of my ability."
