When New York Giants coach Brian Daboll named Jaxson Dart as the No. 2 quarterback behind Russell Wilson, many expected the rookie to wait before making his NFL debut. However, Dart's debut may come sooner than anticipated.

On Sunday, NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported that the Giants are preparing to possibly unleash the rookie in their season opener against the Washington Commanders.

Rapoport and Garafolo revealed that the Giants have crafted a "special package of plays" exclusively for Dart after his three impressive preseason performances, where he completed 32 of 47 passes for 372 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. This package, however, will be employed based on game flow and how Wilson performs.

When reporters pressed Daboll last Monday about who would be QB2, he declined to give a definitive answer.

"Any roster decisions based on who's going to be in the backup or who this player is going to be, we'll have that out there on Sunday," Daboll said during a Zoom call with reporters.

Things will be settled before the New York Giants take the field against the Washington Commanders at 1 p.m. ET.
