Giants announce Week 2 starting QB amid Russell Wilson vs. Jaxson Dart speculation image

The New York Giants are coming off setting an offensive futility record not done since 1942.

Apparently, they want to run it back.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll announced on Monday that Russell Wilson will be his Week 2 starting QB.

That's despite the Giants failing to score a touchdown for a third consecutive Week 1, the first team to have a three-in-a-row futile streak like that since the Detroit Lions from 1940-42.

Wilson was a horrific 17-for-37 for 168 yards against the Washington Commanders on Sunday.

About the only compelling part of the day for Russ was that he ran eight times for 44 yards.

It's not a great sign that Daboll had to come to the podium at the start of Week 2 and confirm who his starting QB is.

The controversy stems from rookie Jaxson Dart. The No. 25 overall pick in April, Dart looked sharp in the preseason.

There are plenty of Giants fans ready to hand the torch over to Dart right now.

And in all frankness, it's probably coming very soon.

But for now, it's still Wilson, and he'll face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2. It could be a good day for the Dallas defense.
