The Minnesota Vikings escaped London with a last-minute win over the Cleveland Browns, thanks to a touchdown pass from Carson Wentz to Jordan Addison with less than a minute to play. And while the Vikings can feel good about being 3-2, considering all of the early issues with their offense, one play in this game nearly cost them a win.
Trailing 17-14 in the fourth quarter, Vikings kicker Will Reichard attempted a 51-yard field goal that went wide right. After the game, though, many pointed out that the kick seemed to hit a camera cable, forcing the ball to change trajectory and go wide. Had the Vikings pointed this out, a re-kick would have gone into effect, and Reichard would have been able to try to tie the game again. Instead, it went unnoticed, and the Browns got the ball.
Luckily for the Vikings, they didn't allow the Browns to score for the rest of the game, and scored the aforementioned touchdown. With that said, if the game was 17-17, they could have been driving to win the game on a kick rather than a potential tie if they had to settle for a field goal. It means next to nothing now because they won, but this could have been a very costly miss by the NFL had things turned out differently.
Minnesota now enters its bye week above .500, and they will return to the field in Week 7 to square off with the Philadelphia Eagles in Minnesota.
