The Los Angeles Rams' wide receivers room took a significant blow ahead of the Week 7 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, as Puka Nacua has been ruled out.
Nacua suffered an ankle injury in Week 6 that initially looked to be significant, but he was able to return to the game, which staved off that fear, but he also played limited snaps the rest of the game.
Nacua wasn't able to take part in a single practice all week and was eventually ruled out for the Week 7 contest in London.
Now, Nacua will turn his attention to Week 9, when the Rams will come off their bye while hoping their best receiver is ready to return to the field.
Here's what we know about Nacua's status after the bye.
How long is Puka Nacua out?
It looks as though there's a chance the bye week will be enough for Nacua to get healthy and return to the field.
Rams head coach Sean McVay said he's "very optimistic" that his No. 1 wide receiver will make it back after the bye for the Week 9 game against the New Orleans Saints.
“He's making good progress. I am very optimistic about hopefully having him ready after the bye. I think it'll serve him well and I have confidence in our other receivers to be able to step up," McVay said of Nacua, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
With Nacua sidelined on Sunday, veteran wideout Davante Adams will become the No. 1 option for Matthew Stafford in the passing game.
Fellow wide receivers Jordan Whittington and Tutu Atwell will also get bumps with Nacua out, although neither one can be trusted in fantasy football lineups.
Even with his injury-shortened game last week, Nacua ranks as WR1 overall going into Week 7. He ranks third in receiving yards and second in catches, also.
