The Las Vegas Raiders dropped their Week 2 contest to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night, but they did see an encouraging performance from rookie running back Ashton Jeanty.

Jeanty didn't put up huge numbers, with 11 carries for 43 yards and three catches for one yard, but he definitely passed the eye test.

The Boise State product had better blocking than we saw in Week 1 (although not by much) and looked more comfortable in his second NFL game. Jeanty displayed his power and vision and showed his impressive jump cuts and spin move (scroll down for those highlights).

He did have an ugly rep in pass protection, but we'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he'll clean that up moving forward.

The most frustrating part about Jeanty's night was the Raiders subbing him out at certain points in the game. Jeanty started finding his rhythm in the second quarter, but Las Vegas inexplicably took him out over the final few drives before halftime and instead deployed Zamir White and Dylan Laube in his place.

The decision to use Laube in the two-minute drill near the end of the first half was particularly egregious. Las Vegas didn't draft Jeanty with the No. 6 overall pick to sub him out in such an important spot. The Raiders did the same thing late in the fourth quarter, also.

On the bright side, Jeanty dominated snaps and touches out of Las Vegas' backfield once again, showing he is the clear-cut lead back, which is great news for his workload moving forward.

Ashton Jeanty highlights

Jeanty only gained a handful of yards on this carry, but the jump cuts were impressive.

This spin by Jeanty... It's beautiful.

Oh. My. Goodness. Jeanty just ran over a Chargers defender on his very first carry. It went for 13 yards.
