The Houston Texans are beginning to shift their running back rotation already.

Nick Chubb saw the heavy workload early. But in Week 3, it was the rookie Woody Marks getting his most work yet.

Joe Mixon doesn't seem like he'll be back from injury anytime soon, so there's opportunity to be had here.

Marks seems primed to take it.

Why Woody Marks is ready to take over RB depth chart for Texans

Marks saw only 11% of the snaps in his NFL debut.

That rose to 27% in Week 2, and 48% in Week 3.

The increased workload is an example of increased trust in Marks, and maybe an underwhelming belief in the veteran Chubb.

In Week 3, Marks had six runs for 27 yards and a catch for nine yards.

Marks' best skill might be as a receiver. His catches should rise as C.J. Stroud settles back in a little bit.

But with the Texans off to an 0-3 start, it's also time to really unleash the younger players where possible. It'll help them more in the present and the future to let Marks cook.

The Texans have gone entirely away from Dameon Pierce, so it looks like a two-horse race between Chubb and Marks. And the rookie is catching up.
