Green Bay Packers rookie Savion Williams has a big helmet.
Really, though, it's a normal-sized helmet with a cover on it.
He and his teammate Romeo Doubs have the same style going out there on the field for the Packers.

Why is Savion Williams' helmet different?
Savion Williams' helmet is different because he is wearing a Guardian Cap.
It's a soft-shell cover that goes over the standard helmet. It's meant to reduce concussions and head injuries.

The rookie has opted to begin his NFL career with the special helmet piece.
He had a concussion this summer, which kept him out of a part of training camp.
Once he passed concussion protocol, it gave him incentive to wear this special protective covering.

Guardian Caps were first allowed to be worn on NFL practice fields in 2020.

Williams has chosen to go with safety over style, and it certainly isn't slowing down the talented rookie too much.
