Former first-round pick Treylon Burks appears to have found his next NFL team, and it won't be the Denver Broncos.
Burks, who was the No. 18 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, worked out for the Broncos earlier this week. He also took a tryout with the Washington Commanders and it appears that he will sign with them.
The Broncos have been looking to boost their wide receiving corps as the season goes on. They have already signed former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Samori Toure to the practice squad and were looking to have Burks join him, but Washington was more appealing.
Burks 53 receptions for 699 yards and one touchdown in his young career, which has been decimated by injuries. The Titans released him during the offseason after a disappointing stay there where he was pegged as the replacement for A.J. Brown, who was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Adding Burks would not have been the big-splash move many Broncos fans are hoping to get ahead of this year's trade deadline, set for November 4, but it would have cost the team next to nothing to take a chance on him.
Burks' decision to sign with Washington likely comes down to nothing more than getting a quicker opportunity. The Commanders have been without No. 1 wide receiver Terry McLaurin for most of the season due to a quad injury and of late, Deebo Samuel has been dealing with an issue with his heel.
They are the team's top two wide receivers and there isn't a great deal of depth on the roster. That could give Burks a chance to play in the regular season rather quickly.
