Jaydon Blue spent the NFL preseason wearing No. 34 for the Dallas Cowboys.

But those won't be the digits he rocks next Thursday when the Cowboys open the regular season against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Blue is returning to his roots: He's going to wear No. 23 to open his rookie season.

That's the number Blue wore for the Texas Longhorns as one of the fastest running backs in the country.

Blue is already getting Dallas fans excited. He only appeared in one preseason game due to a couple injuries during the summer, but he's supposed to be healthy and ready to roll for Week 1 behind listed RB1 Javonte Williams.

That No. 23 is a popular one for NBA purposes, having been worn by both Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

There will definitely be Cowboys fans excited to get a jersey that says BLUE 23 on the back.

The No. 23 was most recently worn by Rico Dowdle, who departed Dallas for Carolina this offseason after an 1,000-yard rushing season in 2024.

It has also been worn by Mike Johnson, Robert Williams and Tashard Choice among a relatively uninspiring group of 23s in Cowboys history.

Maybe Blue can make it so he's the best Dallas Cowboys No. 23 yet.
