Will Deshaun Watson play this season? Latest update on Browns QB after Joe Flacco trade image

The Cleveland Browns made big news trade on Tuesday, sending backup quarterback Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals had been starting Jake Browning in light of Joe Burrow's turf toe injury, but he's thrown eight interceptions in four games.

With Dillon Gabriel as the starter, this moves Shedeur Sanders up to the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart. It also raises another question about a quarterback Browns fans would rather forget was still there, but it certainly looks like he will suit up this season.

Will Deshaun Watson play for the Browns this season?

With only two quarterbacks on the roster, this could mean that Deshaun Watson is closer to playing than many thought he would be at this point in the season. Watson tore his Achilles last October, and then suffered another Achilles injury in January, which put his status for the 2025 season in question. Nine months later, though, he could be nearing a return to the practice field, and potentially start games in 2025 for the Browns.

Watson has been a disaster for Cleveland since being acquired in 2022, throwing 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 19 starts.
