Is D'Andre Swift playing today? Latest injury update on Chicago Bears RB for Week 3 image

The Chicago Bears are dangerously close to not having their starting running back, D'Andre Swift, for the Week 3 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

For the first time this season, Swift was added to the injury report during the week with a quadriceps issue. Swift was able to get in three limited practices before drawing the questionable tag on Friday.

The door is clearly open for Swift to play given his practice participation and questionable tag, but will he actually suit up?

Here's what we know.

Is D'Andre Swift playing today?

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bears running back is indeed expected to play in Week 3 against the Cowboys.

"RB D'Andre Swift (quad) is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Cowboys, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported," NFL.com wrote.

As of this writing, there has been no indication that Swift will be limited at all by his injury, so he appears to be a full-go for Sunday.

Why it matters

Swift is the Bears' lead running back once again this season and is a key contributor, both in the rushing and passing attacks.

Through two games, Swift leads the Bears in carries (29), rushing yards (116) and is tied for the most rushing touchdowns (one). He has also added six catches on eight targets for 18 yards.

Fantasy football start or sit: D'Andre Swift

According to Fantasy Pros, Swift ranks as RB22 overall in PPR formats through two games, which puts him on the flex map for Week 3.

Dallas has been a middle-of-the-road defense against running backs this season, giving up the 15th-most fantasy points per game to the position, so the matchup remains a somewhat favorable one for Swift.

Verdict: Start

Who is D'Andre Swift's handcuff?

Right now, it would appear that rookie Kyle Monangai is the handcuff for Swift, as he has been the clear No. 2 back over the first two weeks.

Monangai ranks second among Bears running backs in carries and rushing yards while fellow backup, Roschon Johnson, hasn't garnered a single touch or even offensive snap this season.
