In the NFL space, it can be hard not to overreact to one game, and the Buffalo Bills' 23-20 loss to the New England Patriots, which dropped them to 4-1, doesn't exactly sound the alarm.

Or does it?

For the past two seasons, the outcry for the Bills to give Josh Allen a true No. 1 receiver has been loud, but with Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, and Joshua Palmer, the offense has been functioning well...until it wasn't.

Aside from Dalton Kincaid (six receptions, 108 yards), it was Shakir with 45 yards who was the next best. Coleman had just four receptions, Palmer and Samuel two, so it wasn't exactly a good outing against New England.

But when asked if he needed more post-game, Allen, like the true pro he is, played a straight bat.

"We'll watch the film, and we'll be better," Allen said.

Allen proves no need for WR upgrade

Would it be nice? Sure, but the opening month has shown that the Bills cope just fine without a star weapon, scoring 30+ points in each game until the loss to the Patriots.

Even last season, the offense averaged 30 points per game without a No. 1 receiver, so Joe Brady does a good job of developing his game plan around getting the ball to all of Allen's weapons.

However, games like the one on Sunday night show that, at times, having that one alpha in the ranks could have been beneficial, just to have that one breakout play, as Stefon Diggs had a few times.

Are we overreacting? Possibly, as the Bills have skins on the wall in proving you don't need a star receiver, but games like on Sunday remind you that it would be nice.
