The Buffalo Bills are now 4-1 after suffering their first defeat of the season at the hands of the New England Patriots in a 23-20 loss. Sean McDermott spoke to reporters on Monday after the fact, and provided a bit of unknown information that will have Bills Mafia's ears perked up.
Buffalo benched wide receiver Keon Coleman for the first series of the game for disciplinary reasons.
"[Sean] McDermott said Keon Coleman was benched for the first series for head coach directed disciplinary reasons last night," Thad Brown reports
"We expect more," McDermott said via Brown. "And he has shown growth this year. We're looking for more consistency.... you have winning habits, it leads to winning on the field."
The exact nature of why Coleman was disciplined is yet to be known.
This isn't the first time the Bills have had to discipline Coleman. Last season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Coleman was benched for the first quarter of the game. Much like he did in Week 5 against the Patriots, he answered the call in the game by scoring a touchdown.
That doesn't change the concern, though, that Buffalo has had to discipline the young receiver twice in two seasons.
