One of the Buffalo Bills' calling cards on offense over the past 18 months has been their low turnover rate, which has powered the AFC East team to become one of the most potent offenses in football.

In the first three games of 2025, the offense didn't have a single turnover, but in the last two weeks, four have happened, with three coming against the New England Patriots in brutal fashion.

A couple of fumbles and a Josh Allen interception kept the Patriots in the game, and Drake Maye and Co. made Buffalo pay dearly, handing them their first loss of the season.

And for offensive coordinator Joe Brady, it's nearly impossible to win in the NFL when you turn the ball over that many times.

“We've made it a point to not turn the ball over,” Brady said. “When you turn the ball over three times, I don't care how good of a team you are, you're not going to be able to overcome that often unless defense gets four, and that's really hard.”

Bills brought back to earth vs. Patriots

Many thought the Bills would do away with the Patriots relatively easily at Highmark Stadium, coming in at 4-0 and riding high, but Mike Vrabel's team smacked them between the eyes and turned it into an old-fashioned dog fight.

With the threat of Buffalo already running away with the division after five weeks, New England made a stand and showed that the Bills are human after all, particularly on offense.

Back-to-back games with at least one turnover aren't what we are used to seeing, and it hasn't happened since Weeks 10 and 11 of last season. Is there a problem, or do we simply chalk it up to an odd game?

Either way, the Bills got a reality check, and who knows, maybe it was one they needed early to get their heads on the straight and narrow.

But now, everyone knows they bleed.
