If the Buffalo Bills went wide receiver trick-or-treating with their NFL-franchise friends, they would be Charlie Brown pulling out a rock while everyone else gets excited about the sweet treats they received.

For the second consecutive season, the Bills have no reliable deep threat receivers. Josh Palmer was supposed to fill that role, but he looks like a massive waste of money at this point. The Bills gave him a three-year, $29 million contract this past offseason - he has 12 catches for 174 yards and no touchdowns, and he has one of the lowest separation rates in the NFL. Keon Coleman hasn't been much better. Palmer's average separation is 2.2 yards - Coleman's is 2.9. Buffalo has no one that can create separation for Josh Allen, which is why the Bills' passing game is so quick-game coded.

And while it would be great to see the Bills go out and make a splash trade for a high-end receiver who could be available, i.e. Chris Olave, D.J. Moore. But for Buffalo, much like the Mean Machine in The Longest Yard with Nelly's Earl Megget, they don't necessarily need a big full-sized chocolate bar to add to the offense, they just need a Hershey's kiss.

Why Rashid Shaheed makes perfect sense for the Bills

If there is one name Bills fans should hone in on, it's Rashid Shaheed of the New Orleans Saints. His speed is a game-changer, and he showed that in Week 5 against the New York Giants when he caught and ran for an 88-yard touchdown.

This type of splash play is what the Bills need. It's what they've lacked since John Brown after 2020. If losing to the Chiefs again this past January should have taught them anything, it's that the speed that Xavier Worthy adds to an offense is something Buffalo should try to find for themselves. They don't need to go out and get Randy Moss in his prime to help the offense take a step forward, they need a specific niche type of player that Shaeed provides.
