Bijan Robinson doesn't want to look ahead.
The superstar running back for the Atlanta Falcons is one of the players who gets asked the big questions. The best players on a roster often earn the long-term inquiries from the media about season-long goals, about winning the division, about just how good a team can be.
Robinson doesn't want to think like that. He suggested this week that being too caught up in the future can diminish the present, and that it has done that for the Falcons in the past.

This is what Robinson said, via CBS Sports:
“For us, we’re not a team that looks ahead anymore. I think the past couple years, since I’ve been here, we’ve always been... ‘We have to win the South. We have to win in the playoffs.’ And I think, for us, that wasn’t a good thing, because we would lose focus on who’s in front of us that week. So, I think it’s really important for us to just go one week at a time, focus on the team, who we have at hand, what we have at stake, and I think everything else will take care of itself.”
It's certainly a reasonable approach to take. It can be tough for human nature to not think about the future, but it's also true that the best way to attack the present is by not worrying about what comes later.

Robinson will be a major part of whatever the Falcons do. He's entering his third season in the NFL and is one of the league's premier running backs.
Last season, he had 304 carries for 1,456 yards (4.8 ypc) and 14 touchdowns. And as a receiver, he added 61 catches for 431 yards and another score.
Robinson, still just 23, was the Falcons' No. 8 overall pick in 2023 out of Texas, and he's been as advertised and then some.
He'll be crucial in the backfield this season helping to support second-year QB Michael Penix Jr. If their combination can click in Atlanta, they can do good things in the present and the future.
