The Atlanta Falcons made a surprising decision for the Week 6 game against the Buffalo Bills, as the team has made wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud a healthy scratch.
The Falcons dropped their inactives list ahead of kickoff on Monday night and McCloud was on the list.
He wasn't dealing with an injury, so he's a healthy scratch, the team's website confirmed.
"In a surprise turn, the Falcons also chose to keep fellow receiver Ray-Ray McCloud inactive against the Buffalo Bills. McCloud is not dealing with an injury, and is considered a healthy scratch for Atlanta," Tori McElhaney of AtlantaFalcons.com wrote.
The move is surprising for two reasons.
Not only is McCloud the team's No. 3 wide receiver, the Falcons are also without No. 2 receiver Darnell Mooney (hamstring), who is not playing because of an injury.
McCloud had recorded just six catches for 64 yards in four games, but both of those marks ranked third among the team's wideouts.
With McCloud and Mooney out, the Falcons will be even more dependent on Drake London. Casey Washington, Jamal Agnew and KhaDarel Hodge could all get more run, also.
We'll see if the Falcons address the reason behind the move following the Monday night battle with the Bills.
