Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado is taking full responsibility for his goal-line fumble in Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. It was a play that eliminated a potential 72-yard touchdown.

After the game, Demercado addressed the reporters and shared how he's feeling after that silly mistake.

Demercado said,

"Just made a mistake. There's really no excuse. Just let the ball go through."

When asked what was going through his mind crossing the goal line, he replied,

"Obviously emotional, you know, big play. But I just got to be smarter."

The running back is currently seeing an expanded role in Arizona's offense as injuries have affected the team's backfield depth.

Most fans will remember Demercado's costly and careless mistake. Because the Cardinals lost the game, the error feels even more significant. Still, the running back says he doesn't plan to dwell on it and wants to keep moving forward.

Demercado said,

"You just got to keep it pushing. It's the same thing. No matter which way you word it, I feel like it's the same answer. You just got to keep it pushing. Holding on to it isn't going to do anything for me. It's not going to do anything for anybody."

The fumble erased a chance for the Cardinals to extend their lead late in the fourth quarter with a score that would have put them up 28-6. The Titans rallied to win the game 22-21.

Few expected the Titans to end their winless streak on Sunday. The Cardinals appeared to have the stronger team, but costly mistakes kept them from securing an easy victory.

Those errors gifted rookie Cam Ward and Tennessee their first win of the season. Also, much-needed breathing room for coach Brian Callahan.
