The Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten off to a hot start in 2025, boasting a 3-1 record and first place in the AFC North.

Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers has played well through four games, completing 74 of 108 passes for 786 yards, throwing eight touchdowns to only three interceptions.

The future Hall of Famer won't be around forever, though, and a lot of people around the league expect the 41-year-old to retire at season's end. It's time for Pittsburgh to dip back into the rookie quarterback well after getting burned by Kenny Pickett in the 2022 draft.

Mock draft has the Steelers selecting Penn State's Drew Allar

In a recent mock draft from USA Today, Ayrton Ostly has the Steelers selecting Penn State quarterback Drew Allar with the 27th overall pick.

"Aaron Rodgers will be 42 by Christmas and can't be the long-term answer at quarterback. Will Howard may be but Allar provides a much higher ceiling," wrote Ostly.

"The 6-foot-5, 235-pound Allar has improved in each of his years as a starter. His arm strength and mobility has drawn comparisons to Josh Allen as a prospect. Allar's trajectory may not reach Allen's heights but he has a higher ceiling than most passers in this class."

While Allar's physical traits have stood out to scouts and analysts, the 21-year-old hasn't been able to put it all together quite yet.

Through four games, Allar has completed 62.8% of his passes, while throwing for 763 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions.

His accuracy is certainly a knock, but that's where the Josh Allen comparisons come into play.

If the Steelers are deadset on making Allar the future of the franchise, they should allow him the time to sit and develop and make sure they aquire a bridge quarterback to give the Penn State standout some time to grow.
