The start of the College Football Season for Penn State began with a bang and some history, as the Nittany Lions beat the Nevada Wolf Pack by a score of 46 to 11. That was the only time that score has happened in NCAA Football history, otherwise known as Scorigami.

While the win was a good way to kick off the 2025 season, Penn State got some great news after the game, which should help the team immensely.

Mark Wogenrich of Sports Illustrated shared comments from James Franklin on some of the team's injured players who've returned already this season, and more importantly, the expected return of four-star linebacker Zuriah Fisher.

Penn State Gets Good News on Zuriah Fisher

Penn State had great play from its defense against Nevada, but that doesn't mean that Fisher's return won't be welcomed. While Dani Dennis-Sutton got off to a strong start in what could be a breakout season, Fisher was out for the season opener.

But, as Franklin revealed, it's not a major concern, as he expects Fisher to make his season debut with Penn State soon. Wogenrich wrote that, "Franklin said Fisher expected to play vs. the Wolf Pack, but the coaching staff held him out for precautionary reasons."

After the dominant win in the home opener, the Nittany Lions are likely to get Fisher back soon. Frankin revealed more information about Fisher's eventual debut, hinting at a return soon.

"But my point is," Franklin said, "I think that explains how close he is. He's close to being back, and it will be significant getting him back. You guys know how I feel about him."

After missing the entire 2024 season, Fisher is expected to be back sometime soon. He'd join a defense that has the chance to be one of the best in the Nation. Playing alongside Dennis-Sutton, who dominated week one, will be a great opportunity for both to thrive.

This comment from Franklin points to Fisher being ready to go soon. He was held out of week one for precautionary reasons, and could make his season debut as soon as their week-two matchup against FIU.
