When does the Week 2 AP College Football poll come out? New projected top team as Texas falls image

With several major upsets shaking the college football landscape, the first weekend of the season has already set the stage for a dramatic Week 2 in the polls.

The defending champion No. 3 Ohio State Buckeye defeated No. 1 Texas in a defensive struggle, a result that will likely flip the two at the top of the rankings. The Buckeyes held Arch Manning and the Longhorns to just seven points in the 14-7 victory. This once again proved Ryan Day’s program is the team to beat in college football.

LSU also made an early statement with Garrett Nussmeier edging out Clemson and Cade Klubnik in a 17-10 victory on Saturday night. It gave Brian Kelly his first Week 1 win as Tigers head coach and, for now, took some pressure off his hot seat

Elsewhere, Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos backed up his offseason confidence by leading the Seminoles to a convincing 31-17 win over No. 8 Alabama. The loss marked Alabama’s first season-opening defeat since 2001 and is sure to shake up the top 10.

While those results dominated Saturday’s headlines, the Labor Day weekend had more drama in store. LaNorris Sellers and No. 13 South Carolina held off Virginia Tech 24-11 in the Aflac Kickoff Game, while Miami pulled off a 27-24 upset of No. 5 Notre Dame. But the biggest surprise came Monday night, when TCU spoiled Bill Belichick’s collegiate coaching debut with a decisive 48-14 win at North Carolina.

All of this sets the stage for the release of the Week 2 polls.

When does the Week 2 AP College Football poll come out?

The AP poll will be released around 2 p.m. ET. on Tuesday.

Typically, rankings are revealed on Sundays, but this week’s extended holiday schedule pushed things back by two days.

The AP poll is compiled by a panel of voters who rank their top 25 teams, assigning point values from 25 for No. 1 down to 1 for No. 25. The collective point totals determine the official order, ensuring that this week’s shakeups will soon be reflected in the national picture.
