Carson Beck has won two national championships in his collegiate career, and in 2025, he's leading another team with title aspirations.
Beck — who served as a backup on Georgia’s 2021 and 2022 championship teams — spent five years in Athens before transferring to Miami this offseason. So far, he’s been one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Beck was exceptional again for No. 3 Miami against No. 18 Florida State, throwing for 240 yards and four touchdowns as the Hurricanes beat the Seminoles in Tallahassee.
Miami improved to 5-0 on the season, with ranked wins over No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 18 USF and No. 18 Florida State. The Hurricanes have also defeated all three in-state opponents — Florida, Florida State, and USF. With no ranked teams left on their schedule, Miami controls its own destiny for both the ACC Championship and the College Football Playoff.
Beck’s college journey has been a long one, but now he’s leading a powerhouse program chasing its first national title since 2001.

Why Did Carson Beck leave Georgia?
Beck transferred from Georgia to Miami in January 2025. He had initially declared for the NFL Draft in December 2024, but withdrew and entered the transfer portal on Jan. 9, committing to Miami one day later.
The quarterback spent five seasons at Georgia, where he led the Bulldogs to an SEC Championship and the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff in his final year. During the SEC title game against Texas, Beck tore his UCL when his elbow was struck on a first-half Hail Mary attempt. The injury required surgery and ended his season.
Beck later described the way his Georgia career ended, with the injury and surgery, as "abrupt" and "not part of my plan." He admitted that after the operation, he fell out of love with football and needed a fresh start. His 2024 season had been full of ups and downs, which contributed to a slide in his draft stock.
When asked about his decision to transfer during ESPN's "College GameDay" broadcast of Miami's matchup with Florida, Beck said "there’s a shelf life on everything" and that it was time to "start something new." He also cited Miami's offensive system as a strong fit for his skill set.
Financial considerations played a role as well. Miami reportedly offered Beck an NIL deal worth around $4 million for the 2025 season, which provided additional incentive to forgo the NFL Draft and begin anew with the Hurricanes.
Beck is the starting quarterback for undefeated Miami in 2025.

Where is Carson Beck from?
Beck is from Jacksonville, Fla.
He played high school football at Providence School before transferring to Mandarin High School for his junior and senior seasons. There, he led Mandarin to its first-ever Class 8A state championship and was named the 2018 Florida “Mr. Football” and the 2018 USA Today Florida Offensive Player of the Year. As a junior, he went 25-of-36 for 329 yards and five touchdown passes in the state title game.
Beck was rated as a four-star prospect by major recruiting services and was one of the top recruits in the Class of 2020. He initially committed to play baseball at Florida as a sophomore before committing to play football at Alabama. He later decommitted from Alabama and signed with Georgia, enrolling early in the spring of 2020.

Carson Beck N.I.L. deal
Beck's NIL with the Hurricanes was initially reported at $4 million. Later, outlets such as On3, suggest the guaranteed amount is closer to $3 to $3.2 million. This figure alone places him among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the sport.
Furthermore, Beck's deal is rumored to contain performance-based incentives that could push his total earnings from the collective as high as $6 million if he meets key benchmarks like leading Miami to an ACC Championship Game or a College Football Playoff appearance.
The lucrative offer was the primary catalyst for Beck's decision to forego the 2025 NFL Draft — where his stock was projected to be in the later rounds — and instead transfer from Georgia to Miami for his final year of collegiate eligibility.
When considering his income from the Miami collective alongside his external brand endorsements, Carson Beck's total N.I.L valuation is consistently ranked as one of the highest in the country. He has secured commercial partnerships with national brands like Beats by Dre, Powerade, and Chipotle. According to Fox, his total N.I.L worth has been estimated to be between $4.3 million and $4.9 million, second only to Arch Manning.
